It’s good to have clean drawers
I spent four hours at work yesterday cleaning up my little room. I tossed and trashed and pillaged. Dusted. Moved. Swept. Hauled. Wiped. I may have even pureed something.
My little room looks tidier, but I still have a long way to go. Files to clean out, old Listen Up!/Neighbors sections to weed through and several hours worth of paperwork to catch up on.
The need to be better organized in 2008 is so strong in my being right now that I wake up at night wanting to label something. I want to take stacks of things and situate them in neat rows on a shelf according to size and color. I want to dab lemon scented cleanser behind my ears in the morning before I leave the house. My clean-and-organize-NOW phase is so bad that I have dirty thoughts about Mr. Clean late at night. Oh shut up. Dude is built, bald and sports a pirate-like gold earring. That so works for me.
Usually, I’m a pretty organized chick, but for some reason, in 2007, I was not. I was all laid back and piled high. I tried a couple of times to get my structure back, but it never really happened. The end result was a ton of folders with simliar names and similar content stuck in a variety of places. Instead of one folder with all content in one location as God intended. Blah.
So I did a little more today as well - updated my files and drawers on my desk and even cleaned out my Rolodex and got it organized. I’m getting a handle on it and it feels good.
I’m really looking forward to 2008. Not only because it’s going to be the year of pure, unadulterated organization, but because new is good. Fresh starts are divine.
Especially when you have clean drawers.
